Deepavali, also known as Diwali or Festival of Lights, is one of the major cultural festivals in Singapore. It is a celebration that marks the triumph of good over evil.
Thousands of Hindu families in the city and across the world, transform their homes into beacons of light, exchange gifts, share feasts and perform prayers. Although Deepavali is months ahead, this Cartoon Drawing helps them understand the festive theme more in depth and knows what kind of elements to add into their artwork. Teachers also have their students share their Deepavali experience to their classmates. For example, the rituals they do, the food/snacks that they indulge in and also the decorative pieces they put up around the house!

Halloween is a holiday celebrated each year on October 31, ad Halloween 2022 will occur on Monday, October 31st. The tradition originated with the ancient Celtic festival of Samhain, when people would like bonfires and wear costumes to ward off ghosts.
It is a time when people dress up in costumes, go trick-or-treating, and carve jack-o’-lanterns from hollowed out pumpkins. Ghosts and witches are popular costumes of the children who go from house to house saying. “Trick-or-treat!”. Though it is not really celebrated amongst the Singaporeans, but we do have places where they organized a Halloween party such as Universal Studios, SAFRA, Sentosa etc.. Are you guys excited for Halloween this year??

Yes… This year’s Chinese New Year was long overdue, but during this Cartoon Drawing, our students learnt how to create one of the many festive themes which in turn will help them with building their stories for their art book! The questions ask for the students were “what is the zodiac animal for this year?” “What do you bring over when visiting your relatives?” “What kind of decorative pieces do you hang at home?” This helps their creative juices to flow and be able to think of a few elements to incorporate to their artwork!

Another week of Mythical creatures! On this week’s mythical creatures, our students learnt how to draw Mermaids and Phoenix! We’re pretty sure that that everyone knows what mermaids are right? Mermaid is a mythical sea-dwelling creature, often described as having the head and body of a woman and a fish’s tail below the waist. So, what does Mermaids symbolizes? Some cultures portray mermaids as good and helpful, some portray as mischievous and playful, or even destructive and territorial. Sailors are encouraged to avoid them as much as possible and be cautious when they encounter such events.

The Phoenix. Known to be a majestic bird-like creature that lived in Paradise, which was known to live a good life. It was also known that it could never truly die. However, it was possible for the creature to be reborn. Most accounts of the Phoenix describe it as being red and yellow in coloration, though there are many variations. All that is known is that the appearance of the mighty bird was unlike any other and that is stood out because of its features.

Up till today, many still loves unicorn because of its beautiful and colourful hair strands. Unicorns symbolizes divine love, grace, beauty, gentleness, and purity. You must be wondering why lions represents England, though lions are not native to that area. Well, back to the Norman dynasty, it was believed that it represents courage and strength. You can also mainly see the 3 lions on the shirt of football team.

Next, we have the bald eagle. The bald eagle has been the national bird of the United States since 1782. Bald eagles, like other eagles worldwide, had been seen by many as symbols of strength, courage, freedom and immortality for generations. And, unlike other eagles, the bald eagle was indigenous only to North America.

Winter and Autumn are both cold seasons. In order to be cold ready, we can wear outerwear like coats, jackets, hats, scarves and gloves. Another thing that we can do to keep our body warmed up is to always drink hot beverages. In Singapore we do not have winter season, but you can enjoy snowy feeling in this part of Singapore called the Snow City! Let us know your snowy experience and how do you feel afterwards!
